GTA 6 PS5 Download Codes Are Region-Restricted; Xbox Codes Are Not

Rockstar Games says the physical PlayStation 5 edition of Grand Theft Auto VI contains a download code rather than a disc. That PlayStation voucher must be redeemed on an account from the country or region printed on the package.

What buyers need to check

If you plan to import a PS5 copy, buy it as a gift, or use a PlayStation account registered in another country, confirm that the package region matches the account before purchasing. A mismatched voucher may not redeem.

Rockstar’s support documentation says Xbox Series X|S codes are not region-locked. The restriction therefore applies to the PlayStation voucher, not to GTA VI gameplay or where the console itself can be used.

The practical takeaway

PS5 buyers should purchase from a retailer serving the same region as their PlayStation account and keep the package details. Xbox buyers do not face the same voucher-region restriction, according to Rockstar.
