AI-generated clips presented as Grand Theft Auto VI footage are spreading across social platforms and attracting millions of views. The videos fill the gap between official Rockstar releases, but their presentation can make it difficult for casual viewers to distinguish fan-made material from authentic footage.

Why the clips spread

GTA VI draws exceptional interest, while generative-video tools make convincing-looking scenes inexpensive to produce. Social algorithms then reward fast, sensational posts—even when the footage is unofficial or misleading.

The risk is not simply poor-quality fan content. Unlabeled synthetic clips can be reposted without context, cited as “leaks,” and mistaken for Rockstar material long after the original creator explains how they were made.

How to verify GTA VI footage

Treat footage as official only when it appears on Rockstar Games’ verified channels or is linked from the official GTA VI website. Claims based only on anonymous social posts should remain clearly labeled as unverified.
