Hazelight Studios just passed a major milestone: 50 million combined copies sold across its three games, with Split Fiction now at 7 million just over a year after launch.

The Numbers

The Swedish co-op specialist shared the breakdown directly: A Way Out at 13 million since 2018, It Takes Two at 30 million since its 2021 Game of the Year win, and Split Fiction at 7 million since its March 2025 release. Split Fiction is the smallest slice of the pie, but it’s also the newest game by a wide margin, having sold 1 million copies in its first 48 hours and 2 million in its first week.

What’s Next

Alongside the sales update, Hazelight teased its next project with a simple line: “can’t wait to show you our fourth game.” The studio hasn’t revealed details, but founder Josef Fares has said development began not long after Split Fiction shipped, and that he’s already confident it will top what came before.

Why It Matters

Hazelight has built a rare thing in AAA gaming: a studio whose entire output is exclusively couch and online co-op, and it keeps winning Game of the Year conversations anyway. Crossing 50 million sales without ever making a single-player game validates that focus, and it puts real weight behind whatever Fares and his team build next.
