OSRS Launches Wyrmscraig, Its First Player-Designed Island
OSRS launched Wyrmscraig on July 29, an island fully designed by a player through Jagex's Player-Designed Island competition.

Old School RuneScape went live with Wyrmscraig on July 29, and it’s not a typical Jagex-designed update. The island is the winning entry from the studio’s Player-Designed Island competition, meaning the community itself shaped the content players are now exploring.
A Different Kind of Update
Jagex has leaned on community polls to steer OSRS updates for years, but Wyrmscraig goes further than a vote on features. The island’s concept, layout, and theming came directly from a player submission, then Jagex’s team built it out for release. It’s a meaningful escalation of how much creative control the community gets over the game’s actual content, not just whether an update ships.
Why This Matters for OSRS
Old School RuneScape’s entire identity is built on staying close to its community through polling, and a fully player-designed zone is the natural next step. If Wyrmscraig lands well, expect Jagex to run the competition again for future islands or regions, turning it into a recurring pipeline rather than a one-off experiment.
The Bigger Picture
This lands in the same year OSRS shipped Sailing, its first new skill in twelve years, and continued expanding the seas around Gielinor with new quests, bosses, and ship upgrades. Wyrmscraig fits into that same push to keep giving the ocean, and the community, more to do.
